On Friday, October 3, 2008, the President signed the Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act into law. This legislation improves the mental health of all Americans, especially children and adolescents, by requiring businesses that offer health insurance provide equal coverage for both physical and mental health services, including co-payments, deductibles, out-of-pocket expenses, and coverage of hospital days and outpatient visits.
